Oh boy do I need some serious help! So we had another talk about the days situation, and the doctor said that he wants me to be available on Mondays and Wednesdays for him, but only to be "on call." Basically he wants me to work for just him, but only 3 days a week! Doesn't sound very fair to me...and he was making me sound rude for wanting to have 5 days a week; during the interview it was made clear that I wanted 40 hours, and if I had to work other places I would...so this is really annoying! He's so controlling! I really want to quit, but is it too early? I've worked 2 days, I know, but I just wanted to ask him if he was going to pay me to sit at home and be on call for him. He keeps saying there's potential for it to become 5 days and that's why he wants me to wait...and I also want to ask him if he wants to make our mortgage payments until there is 5 days available. I'm SO frustrated!! And the other annoying thing is if I don't work a Friday because he's gone, then I'd work Monday. It's just so sporadic! Plus, on top of the important issue, hours, they don't use the ultrasonic! Unless it's "really heavy." I guess I could make due with this situation for awhile if I have to...but I really want 40 hours and he can't give it to me and won't let me fill it up elsewhere! (I know, it sounds totally crazy, but its true!) What should I do?! :(

Man! Difficult situation. You have to do what's best for you. If you told him from the beginning then that you want 40 hours then it shouldn't be a suprise to him. What if you go get another job on the other days and then once it gets to that point where he wants you 5 days then you can possibly quit. Who knows, but you can't wait around for him though. He can't expect you to sit around and be on call those extra days. Since when are hygienist's on call anyway's :) That's great you are moving into a house though, it's exciting so congrats! Keep in mind you don't have to stay at your first job forever anyway.
That's good you got another job, that didn't seem like a good situation. I actually don't have a job yet :) I'm still looking and temping and stuff. There is one that I want and I should hear back this week so we'll see what happens. Good luck and congrats on the new job.
